Streamlining

I've been posting more on the blog area at MySpace and less here for the past few weeks.

I have decided to do a more regular blog there, since it has way more traffic. I also don't
believe I'll have much time to write for two separate blogs over the next few months.

Likewise, I am going to consolidate the radio stations into one site, for WJJD, and will ultimately
phase out the Musicbox site. WJJD is a stronger brand, and is what people hear on the stream.

I'll still check in here from time to time..but for all the pictures and stories, come over to
my MySpace page!

Side-line business

For my colleagues who have suddenly found themselves on the beach..

We looked around and realized that we had a lot of books on the shelf that we had already read. Some were textbooks; some were novels; some were Christian books. In most cases, they were not books that we would keep as reference books or would likely read again.

So I began selling them on a site called Cash4books.net.

Cash4Books is McKenzie books. Here's how it works:

You enter the ISBN number of the book(s) you wish to sell.

The system will respond by telling you: a.) if Cash4Books will purchase the book; b.) how many copies you can sell, if you have more than one; c.) the amount they will pay for the book.

Then just print out the shipping/packing list and the postage paid label, box them up and mail them.

I discovered this site in September and since then, have sold 4 boxes of books. I have a couple of large boxes to go through in the next couple of weeks.

Hey, it won't pay your mortgage. But every little bit helps in these difficult times.

Mule Day

It's been several years, so today we packed up and rolled to Calvary, Georgia, home of Mule Day.

This year, I got to see some of the parade. It featured old tractors and automobiles, horseback riding clubs from surrounding areas, and of course..mules!

The booth area has greatly expanded since the last time I was there. We spent most of the day there and still only covered about half of the booths.

We made a pocnic out of it and splurged on corn dogs, chicken tenders, a funnel cake. and lemonade. The weather was gorgious.

After lunch we toured the Mule Museum. I was especially fascinated with the old pocket watches, some dating back to the 1800s. Had a nice chat with the fellow there at the display, being the clock fanatic that I am. Kind of makes me want to build a few clocks again. It seems to be a lost art.

The boys went for pony rides and we went through some more booths. Marianne had some birthday money left and bought a couple of items.

We're kind of tired and worn out tonight but we sure enjoyed the small town feel of Calvary.
