Now THIS looks like a cool website!

I'm talking about the soon-to-be-launched "The Best Deal Yet.com."

This website is scheduled to launch roughly 34 days from today.

I'm pretty skeptical of a lot of websites these days, because anything offering a good deal is bound to have a "got'cha" somewhere in the fine print. I have not found anything to dislike so far about this site, with the offer of paying $25-$35 per hour for viewing ads, with those funs coming from the advertisers themselves.

Wanna check it out? Here's the link.

I Knew I Had to Make A Major Change...

Actually, last summer, when I knew the boys would be leaving my care on a full time basis. That's when I knew it was time to figure out what I needed to do next.

True, I did launch the morning show on Big D Country. Several months now into that launch, it's still too small in terms of audience to attract and keep advertisers.

A few weeks ago I began putting together my idea to finally get the ball rolling in the world of affiliate marketing. I mean, folks are making money doing this, or there would not be so many affiliate programs successfully operating now.

I've begun developing my first website around the area of clocks. I have been fascinated with clocks since I was very young.

Affiliate marketing idea # 1

As I continue along through the learning process of understanding affiliate marketing, I realized that the time is approaching to start putting ideas into action.

I also realized that I needed to expand beyond the radio station's website that lists all of the sp0nsors and advertisers, and build a more niche-oriented site for a specific product in order to really understand the business of affiliate marketing.

To me, one of the more time-consuming elements of getting started was just deciding on a domain name. And then, checking its availability.

I decided that I would try a niche site that is not based, or connected with radio. For a breath of fresh air, perhaps, and a look at a target that does not have to necessarily be generated through radio spots and liners.

Over the weekend, an idea was born. This morning I ended up searching for a suitable domain, and after a few tries, found one that worked.

The site is not on the Internet just yet, but I purchased the domain and hosting package today from HostGator. I have already
identified nine possible companies to work with as affiliate partners on this site.

More details coming as soon as the site is up and running. For those who are thinking about doing affiliate marketing, perhaps you can learn from my mistakes.

I'm learning from The Six Figure Program, by the way.

Next post: Why I knew I had to make some life changes.

Big D Country - Top 30 Chart

It was exciting to see that for the first time in a while, our broadcast was launched over 100 times on Thursday, June 9! The total count by day's end was 125!

Our programming is monitored for charting purposes by Radiowave and Concentus Media Group. I also take requests into account while preparing the chart.

You can see the current Big D Country Top 30 Country Chart here:

Combining...radio and affiliate marketing

While I'm playing catch-up a bit on the blog, I'd like to explain where I've been for the past couple of years, and share a bit about my plan for the future.

I had to take a hiatus from several things from 2007 to 2010 for family reasons - and they were good ones. My grandsons Benjamin (now 7) and Daniel (now 6) were getting old enough to need some type of education, and my stepdaughter had earlier decided to homeschool the boys. I felt this was a wonderful choice and told her we'd support that choice.

That led to me first teaching them under the Early Learning Coalition's program in 2006-2007, then independently from 2007 until August of 2010. I loved doing it, and grew very close to the boys.

When she was able to leave the workforce to become a stay-at-home mom, my emotions were mixed. I'd have time to pursue some ventures. But the boys would be living in Panama City.

So, the week after the boys were in Panama City, I decided to take a week to just do nothing except try to figure out what to do next.

What I felt that week was lost and without a purpose. That wouldn't do!

One week later, I began developing what would become Big D Country radio on November 4, 2010 - a localized Internet station with a morning show, which I would try to sell to advertisers. That story is available on the previous blog post, in case you missed it.

A few months into it, the station has a few advertisers. Many ads are per-inquiry, however. But one of them pulled a response.

Then, recently, I was re-introduced to something I piddled with some years back - affiliate marketing.

In May, I had the idea that perhaps I should consider re-entering the affiliate marketing business. I realize that my education in affiliate marketing is not as extensive as it could be, so I am refreshing my memory and learning new things.

Specifically, I am looking at the possibility of doing both the station AND affiliate marketing - perhaps together with some offers and independently with others.

I welcome ideas and suggestions.

Radio World Story!

Here's a recent story (May 18, 2011) that appeared in the national radio trade publication, Radio World.

It is quite accurate in reporting the Internet radio/streaming station of Big D Country, which is the brand that my WJJD station uses these days.

I have spent most of the past six months working hard to build the station into a stronger country-formatted Internet station.

The Radio World story will provide you with a look behind the scenes. Enjoy!
